This year, I celebrate 25 years in chiropractic practice. They have been wonderful years and have brought many wonderful people and pets into my life.
The biggest challenge that I faced 25 years ago is the same one that I face now: educating people about what chiropractic is and what it does. Chiropractors have been around for over 100 years, but so many people still don't know what we do.
What Do Chiropractors Do?
Here it is in a nutshell:
We examine the involved joints (spine and extremities) for abnormal movement. If we find a joint that is "locked up" or subluxated in the spine, there is often also a "pinched" nerve and/or swollen disc. Chiropractors treat those joints to restore normal joint biomechanics. This reduces pain and inflammation and improves nerve function and overall mobility. By doing this we also reduce the risk of degeneration in those joints.
There you have it!
How did chiropractic help all of the animals listed in this blog and the many, many others who are not listed? By doing what I just stated. The nervous system is the control center in your body. If your dog has a swollen lumbar disc that is putting pressure on the nerves that control his legs, they will not work correctly. If your dog has a pinched nerve that controls his/her bowels, how will he/she be able to avoid having accidents in the house? The list of possible scenarios is endless, as are the cases that I have seen.
If you or your pet are suffering from pain, joint stiffness, a pinched nerve, or other musculoskeletal issues, call a chiropractor today to get your questions answered and get the relief that you or your pet have been waiting for!
