It's easy to leave your barn cats to their own business and let them care for themselves. But without veterinary care, outdoor, stray, and feral cats are exposed to and not protected from viruses and bacteria. If they live alone, they are likely to survive only 2 to 3 years. If living in a community of cats, they may reach 5 years of age.
By managing your barn cats' routine veterinary care (including alteration), your outdoor cats' life expectancies can jump to 9 to 12 years of age. Minimizing the cat population with alteration improves the overall health of your existing barn cat population and reduces your overall costs (financial and emotional) as caretakers.
Improving barn cat health and reducing overpopulation is important to us at Badger Veterinary Hospital and Badger Equine Veterinary Services. Our Barn Cat Program for clients offers veterinary services for significantly reduced costs (comparable to other low-cost spay/neuter clinics).
Talk with your Badger Veterinary Hospital / Badger Equine Veterinary Services veterinarian about enrolling in our Barn Cat Program so you too can advocate for the health of your barn cat population.
