Dr. Servantez nominated this trio of football-loving dogs to be October's Patients of the Month! Read all about Rudy, Emmitt, and Lambeau from their owner, Julie Hartman:
Wow! Well, the boys were very excited to know about the nomination!
Rudy came into our lives after someone on my son's baseball team got a Peekapoo puppy -- that I, of course, fell in love with. Long story short, my son insisted I needed one! The team member's mom said they were free, that her cleaning lady's dog had an "oops". Unfortunately, they were all gone, so my son Googled until he found one close by and brought home the cutest little baby ever to surprise me. I immediately named him Rudy -- as I (we) love Notre Dame and I always said my next dog would be a "Notre Dame" dog.
We had two golden retrievers prior to Emmitt. They were Rudy's older brothers and after they had to be put down (within about 6 months of each other), we were all really sad and Rudy needed a buddy. Our neighbor put us in contact with someone and we went and checked out the lab puppies. My husband also wanted a dog for hunting. After seeing the litter, we picked out who would eventually be named Emmitt -- yes after Emmitt Smith of the Dallas Cowboys, as my husband and son are fans.
I continued to feel the need to have another golden retriever and started watching the paper and internet and begging my husband for one. Then I found my Lambeau! He is our second Green Bay Packer dog (Baylee -- short for Green Baylee Packer -- was our first golden). He's been the biggest golden we have ever had or seen! He's had many allergy issues, a root canal, and throat surgery, but he continues to be the sweetest, most loyal 90-pound lap dog ever!
They spend much of the day lounging around the house, barking at any cars that go by and especially at the mailman, while we are at work. Then it's game on when we get home -- never ending ball fetching, walks, and wrestling matches with dad!
They are each others' best friends. Emmitt protects Rudy from the hawks that are trying to get him and Lambeau does whatever Emmitt is doing. Rudy is king of the house and makes sure the other two don't come close to his food or toys, but he will play with Lambeau occasionally.
Thank you again for the nomination of our boys. They sure do make our life complete!
Join us in celebrating Rudy, Emmitt, and Lambeau this month! And thank you to Julie Hartman for sharing the story of her boys!
