Small Animal Veterinarian
Dr. Kayla Rothstein knew she wanted to be a veterinarian since she was about 5 years old. She majored in animal science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from UW-Madison. Kayla is also certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (cVMA) through Colorado State University. She had been with Country View Animal Hospital since June 2016 before it became part of Badger Veterinary Hospital.
Prior to vet school, Kayla worked at several small animal veterinary clinics and was an intern at the Racine Zoological Gardens ("Rhinos rule!"). During vet school, she worked at the UW Veterinary Care pharmacy. Kayla was recognized with the Josephine Walsh Compassion in Animal Care Award in 2016.
"I live and work by the motto, 'They won't care how much you know until they know how much you care,' which is reflected by Badger Vet's high standards. One of my greatest goals as a veterinarian is to have strong communication skills and educate my clients on their pet's health and the easy steps they can take to improve it. I love working with people who have a common goal of using high-quality medicine to maintain a healthy human-animal bond from puppy/kitten-hood to the final, peaceful moments of life."
In her spare time, she enjoys knitting and crocheting, reading, and outdoor activities (fishing, kayaking, biking, camping) with her husband, Adam. Together they have three cats - Lavender, Mewsette, and Tarragon - with the hope of adding a dog to the family in the near future.
Interesting things about Dr. Rothstein:
- Kayla LOVES coffee mugs ... but only the unique ones!
- She also LOVES winter and snow!
- Christmas is Kayla's favorite holiday ... and she hates Halloween.
- Kayla and her husband went to Montana for their honeymoon and participated in team-penning.
- She was a Girl Scout for 14 years and earned both the Silver and Gold Awards.
